Insta Graphic Systems has expanded its heat transfer portfolio with the introduction of Ultima Split Finish. Launched recently in October, Split Finish is a multi-purpose screen printed heat transfer that allows designers to combine both matte and gloss finishes within a single graphic. The product gives apparel decorators the ability to determine which sections of a design appear with a gloss finish and which appear with a matte finish, all in one application.
Ultima Split Finish is a stretchable Matte/Gloss Heat Transfer developed for use across multiple market segments, including team sports, performance wear, casual wear, and street wear. The transfer is Pantone color driven, phthalate free, and offers superior stretch capability alongside durable wash resistance. It holds fine detail, with a minimum line weight of one point for matte areas and two points for gloss areas. It is also available with metallic and shimmer inks as well as an optional blocker for dye migration.

The transfer is suited for a wide range of fabrics, including cotton and cotton blends, polyester and polyester blends, polyester-spandex blends, moisture-wicking materials, bamboo, hemp, and neoprene.
“Ultima Split Finish addresses a longstanding need for designers who want the visual contrast of two finishes without the complexity of multiple applications,” said a spokesperson at Insta Graphic Systems. “Placing matte and gloss elements side by side within the same graphic gives decorators a new level of creative control while maintaining the stretch and durability that performance apparel demands.”
The release of Ultima Split Finish reflects the company’s continued focus on screen printed transfer technology, which remains distinct from other decoration methods such as dtf transfers. Screen printed transfers are recognized for their stretch performance, wash durability, and the ability to utilize specialty inks. Ultima Split Finish extends those characteristics while adding dual-finish capability.
“Consistency in temperature and pressure during application is essential to achieving the absolute best results,” the Media Relations spokesperson added. “The product was engineered to hold detail cleanly, which is why proper application equipment and technique remain important to the final result.”
Ultima Split Finish performs best when applied with a heat press that provides even heat and pressure across the entire platen, along with pre-pressing of the garment before application. Insta Graphic Systems recommends storing the transfers in their original packaging until opened. Once opened, store the transfers in an airtight bag or container. Keep away from direct heat, sunlight, and high humidity. Transfers have a shelf life of six months to one year from the date of shipment, depending on the product.
Insta Graphic Systems has been a global leader in heat transfer technology since 1959.
