Darcy Partners Acquires Realize 2050; Forms Dedicated Power & Utilities Business Unit

PR Newswire

Darcy Power brings together Darcy’s technology intelligence platform and Realize 2050’s strategic advisory capabilities and will be led by Realize 2050 founder Chris Richardson as CEO.

HOUSTON and DENVER, Oct. 13, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Darcy Partners, the energy technology intelligence and innovation platform, announced today that it has acquired Realize 2050, an energy solutions consultancy serving North America’s largest investor-owned utilities. Darcy Partners will now operate through two focused business units: Darcy Power, focused on power and utilities, and Darcy Oil & Gas. The company will also continue its market-leading coverage of energy transition technologies and trends for all customers.

Realize 2050 founder Chris Richardson will serve as CEO of Darcy Power. Sam Long will continue to serve as Chairman & CEO of Darcy Partners, leading the Company’s work in Oil & Gas and adjacencies.

For Darcy’s utility customers, the company’s technology intelligence, community-driven research products, and proprietary benchmarking will continue to be offered as they are today, with Realize 2050 strategic advisory and technology commercialization services now available to members. Realize 2050’s consulting clients will continue to be served under the Realize 2050 brand, with the same teams and leadership, and will now benefit from Darcy’s intelligence platform, technical bench, and utility community.

“We are proud of the fact that we have quadrupled utility participation in our Power & Utilities member base over the last four years,” said Sam Long, Chairman & CEO of Darcy Partners. “However, we believe we are just beginning to scratch the surface when it comes to the impact we could create in the utility industry. Maximizing that potential starts with having the right leader with the right vision, and we believe Chris brings that vision to Darcy.”

“This industry has never had more information, but information isn’t knowledge and knowledge isn’t a decision. Those gaps are where utilities lose time and capital, and closing them is what this transaction accomplishes,” said Richardson. “Darcy provides utilities with access to a unique community of peers, combined with services to identify innovation opportunities and de-risk capital deployment. Realize 2050 provides a layer on top of those capabilities to translate that intelligence to each utility’s specific operating environment, helping drive affordability and accelerate interconnection speeds without sacrificing reliability and safety.”

“Chris has impressed us with his deep knowledge of utility innovation strategies,” said Keith Gross, Partner at Pacific Lake Partners and Board member at Darcy Partners. “We are excited by Sam’s vision for the Darcy Partners platform, and we look forward to seeing Chris help refine and advance that vision.”

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
