Applications received by Oct. 31 will be entered into the lottery for the 250-unit affordable age 55+ community; later applicants will be placed on a waitlist
HONOLULU, HI, UNITED STATES, October 1, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Affordable housing developer and owner Highridge Costa, in partnership with the Hawai‘i Public Housing Authority (HPHA) has announced that the housing lottery for Hoʻohiki Senior Living is now open, and will be drawn on November 10, 2026. Move-ins are anticipated to start in January 2027.
All 250 units at Hoʻohiki Senior Living located at 1002 N School St in Honolulu (and previously known as School Street Redevelopment Project Phase I) are reserved for households earning no more than 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI) and are restricted to residents age 55 and older.
Prospective residents can apply for the lottery now through October 31 by submitting an application on the property’s official landing page, https://www.hoohikiseniorliving.com. Anyone who submits the form by that date will be automatically entered into November 10 drawing. Applications submitted after October 31 will still be accepted, though those applicants will be placed on a waitlist rather than entered into the lottery.
The unit mix in the 15-story building includes 32 studio/one-bath homes, 208 one-bedroom/one-bath homes, and 10 two-bedroom/two-bath homes, one of which is a manager’s unit. The property includes 247 parking stalls — 204 residential, 10 ADA, 25 visitor, five EV-charging and three on-grade — along with 90 bicycle parking stalls.
Resident amenities on the sixth floor include an exercise room, classrooms, an arts and crafts room, a multi-purpose room with kitchen, a media room and lending library, and a computer lab. An outdoor recreation deck atop the parking structure offers walking paths, barbecue areas, resident gardens and a stage for community events.
